Grading

BOOKS and MAGAZINES:

“Media” grade is the pages of the book or magazine, and “cover” grade is the cover of the book or magazine.

NEW: New, unread book or magazine.

NM (Near Mint): As New. This cover or book/ magazine is in the same immaculate condition to which it was published. There will be no defects, no missing pages, no library stamps, etc., and the dust jacket (if one is available) will be perfect, without any tears.

EX (Excellent): Approaches the condition of As New, but without being crisp. There will be no defects, etc., and if the dust jacket has a small tear, or other defect, or looks worn, this will be noted.

VG+ (Very Good Plus): Almost an Excellent (EX) cover or book/magazine, with very minor defect, or very minor wear. May have a remainder mark.

VG (Very Good): Describes a cover or book/ magazine that does show some small to moderate defects. Any defects will be noted.

G (Good): Describes the average used worn cover or book/ magazine that has all pages. Any defects will be noted.

P (Poor): Cover - May show signs of age and/or show signs of being sufficiently worn. May have large stains, large amounts of fading, rips, tears, and pieces missing.
Pages (Media) - May show signs of age and/or show signs of being sufficiently worn. May be soiled, scuffed, stained or spotted and may have loose joints, hinges, pages, etc.


CD’s AND DVD VIDEOS:


S/S (Still Sealed) OR NEW: The item is factory sealed and has never been opened, used, or played. If an item is graded as SS/NEW and there is any visible flaws, for example, a “SS” CD has a small crack in the CD jewel case, it will be noted in the item description. If there is any signs of wear, it will be noted.

NM ( Near Mint): Has been opened, but plays perfectly and has no scratches on it or any damage whatsoever. Cover or Jewel Case - has been opened, but looks like new with no damage whatsoever.

VG+ (Very Good Plus): May have some signs of wear. For example, if a jewel case has some marks on it, but has all CD holder teeth intact it will be graded VG+. Also, if a CD or DVD only has one small minor scuff or scratch on it or a couple of minor light marks on it, but still plays perfectly it will be graded VG+.

VG (Very Good): Plays perfectly, however, does have more than a couple of scuffs or scratches on it. Cover or Jewel Case - May have a small crack in it, or other signs of wear.

G+ (Good Plus): Cover or Jewel Case - Jewel case May be missing disc holder teeth or has loose disc holder teeth, or other signs of heavy wear. Cover May have signs of heavy wear.


VINYL RECORDS:


SS (Still Sealed) or New: Factory sealed. Item has never been opened, used or played. Any visible flaws or wear will be noted in the item description. For example, if a vinyl record is graded “SS” and the cover May have a small corner wear, the corner wear will be described.

NM ( Near Mint): Record - Looks and plays like new and is flawless with no damage whatsoever.
Cover - Has been opened, but is still flawless with no damage whatsoever.

VG+ (Very Good Plus): Record - May have slight scuff marks and will have the slightest signs of some minor wear. Cover - Will have the signs of minor normal wear.

VG (Very Good): Record - Will have more wear than a record graded VG+, but is still a decent copy. May crackle, pop or make other noises, but only occasionally. Cover - May have scuffs and/or edge wear. May have ring wear and/or split seams.

G+ or G (Good Plus or Good): Record - May have several scratches on it and/or may have groove wear. May have significant surface noise. May have a scratch on it that can be felt with a finger. Record is playable, but May skip or have noticeable audible noise. Cover - Will have more than normal wear and tear.

CASSETTE TAPES AND VHS VIDEOS:


S/S (Still Sealed) or NEW: This item is factory sealed and has never been opened, used or played. If there is a visible flaw with an item graded “SS” it will be noted. For example, if a Cassette Tape is graded “SS”, but has a small crack in the case it will be noted on the item description.

NM ( Near Mint): This item has been opened but looks and/or plays like new, with no damage whatsoever.

VG+ (Very Good Plus): A Cassette Tape or VHS Video graded VG+ plays perfectly. If a Cassette Tape or VHS Video plays perfectly, but there is a slightest signs of wear to the cartridge, for example, light scuff marks, the grade will be VG+. Cassette Tape Case or VHS Video Box - Has the slightest signs of wear, for example, a few scuff marks on the case or box, with no cracks in the case and no tears on the box.

VG (Very Good): Cassette Cartridge - May have more wear on the cartridge than a grade of VG+, but will still play very good. VHS Box - Will have more signs of wear than grade of VG+. May have a small tear, scuff mark(s) or stain(s).
